Police grill man in Adamawa over death of daughter


A father in Adamawa State is being grilled by detectives of the Nigeria Police over the disappearance and death of his daughter.

The man whose name is not immediately known but identified as a resident of Mayo-Belwa, a town and local government area in the southern part of Adamawa, told the police that he gave the daughter something to take home but she was not seen afterward.

The body of the 16-year-old daughter has since been found.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said the man is being questioned for the alleged murder of the daughter.

“A Mayo-Belwa LGA suspect has been arrested by police in the alleged disappearance of his 16-year-old daughter,” Nguroje said in a telephone interview on Thursday.

Nguroje added: “The suspect told police that he gave his daughter the food they bought at the market and asked her to take the items home.

“According to the suspect, when he returned home, he found that his daughter had not returned home.

“The body believed to be that of the girl was found in a remote area of ​​Mayo-Belwa.”
