Man docked for stealing 11 solar panels worth N4m

On Wednesday, a 31-year-old man, Samson Akpotaregbe, who allegedly stole 11 solar panels valued N4 million, was docked at an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The defendant is facing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing to which he pleaded not guilty.

Earlier, Prosecutor S.A. Adegbesin told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in August at Milieu Haven Montessori School, Festac.

He alleged that the defendant stole 11 solar panels valued N4 million from the school where they were installed.

The prosecutor said the alleged offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Section 287 of the law stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders while Section 411 carries a two-year jail term.

The Chief Magistrate, Miss A.O. Akinde, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties.

She adjourned the case until Nov. 22 for mention.
