A 14-year-old girl was found dead close to the venue where Yoruba Rally was held in Lagos State.
Her death was allegedly caused by a bullet fired by the Police at the Oodua Republic Mega Rally in Ojota on Saturday, as stated in a video that went viral.
However, the State Police Command has debunked the allegation describing the news as a calculated attempt to create confusion and fears in the minds of the public.
“The Command did not fire a single live bullet at Ojota rally. The said corpse was found wrapped and abandoned at a distance, far from Ojota venue of the rally, behind MRS Filling Station, inward Maryland, on the other side of the venue, with dried blood stains suggesting that the corpse is not fresh,” the State Police Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said.

According to him, a wound sustained from a sharp object was seen on the corpse following a close look.
Therefore, the Command urged the public to disregard the news and go about their lawful normal daily activities.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has commiserated with the family of the deceased and assured that thorough investigation would be carried out.
