The Abia State Police command have confirmed the death of two chart pushers in Aba, on Wednesday.
Crime and Court News gathered that the two chart pushers were involved in an argument over who should carry goods purchased by a trader at cemetery market in Aba, Abia State, South Eastern Nigeria.
This led them into a fight where they used dangerous weapons on each other.
The cause of the fight was over N200 which the trader was going to pay whoever assisted to carry the goods.
According to an eyewitness account, several people including the owner of the goods intervened in a bid to stop the fight but the combatants wouldn’t budge.
The eyewitness reported further that one of the cart pushers stabbed the other in the abdomen, neck and other parts of the body leading to his death.
Once he noticed that the other cart pusher had died, the offensive assailant took to his heels but a mob chased and descended on him killing him instantly in the process.
The Abia State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Geoffrey Ogbonna confirmed that the altercation which degenerated into a fight led to the death of one of the combatants. He further confirmed that following the death of one of the combatants, a mob killed the other.
Ogbonna warned members of the public to desist from taking laws into their hands when they have issues with others. He said that the Police had removed bodies of the dead cart pushers and deposited same in the mortuary.
