Operatives attached to the Ijanikin Divisional Police Lagos State Command is currently investigating one Ijeoma Joy Eze for using fake pregnancy and birth of triplets to extort her lover Ayo Olorunda.
It was learned that the duo met and started dating in Lagos for about six months before the suspect, Joy claimed she was pregnant for Ayo Olorunda unknown to him that the fake pregnancy was a plan to defraud him.
It was gathered that in order to continue extorting money from her lover, few months before she gave birth, Joy informed Olorunda that she had moved to Rivers State where she was staying with her family.
Unknown to Olorunda that the suspect was somewhere in Ijanikin, area of Ojo he kept sending money for her upkeep, ante natal and to purchase baby things to her each time she demand.
According to a relative of the victim, on the 12th of November Joy called in from River State that she has give birth to triplet. When we received the news everyone was so happy especially Olorunda. She even sent us pictures of newborn triplets.”
“Later she said she was coming to Lagos for the naming ceremony, and that she needs money for flight to come down to Lagos. After Olorunda sent money for flight, she said she would be coming with her mother who is taking care of her and her new born. So he sent another money for her mother’s flight believing she actually gave birth.”
However trouble started when a mutual friend of the lovers revealed to Olorunda that it was all scam, that Joy was never pregnant, let alone giving birth to any baby.
Angered by the discovery, Olorunda reported the case to the police who arrested the suspects.
During police interrogation the suspect initially said the triplet died so she buried them in River State. Later revealed to the police that she did not give birth to any baby that it was a plan executed by she and her gang to extort money from Olorunda.
Confirming the arrest, the Spokesperson Lagos state police command CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu said the suspect has been granted bail while investigation is ongoing.
However, the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that the case should be diligently investigated.
