Operatives of Police in Zamfara State said it has neutralized two armed bandits in a raid on the bandits’ enclave in Mutu Forest under Tsafe Local government area of the state.
It also said it recovered Twenty-two (22) Rounds of live ammunition from the bandits during the onslaught.
The Command’s spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu who confirmed the development in a statement made available to newsmen said it received a distress call that the bandits barricaded the Gusau – Tsafe – Funtua roads and kidnapped victims to their enclave.
SP Shehu said upon receiving the information, the command deployed its men who immediately swung into action leading to the repel and dislodging of the bandits.
According to him, “On 4th January 2022, Police Special Forces deployed along Gusau – Tsafe – Funtua Road, while on routine confidence-building patrol received a distress call that, armed bandits on seven (7) Motorcycles with sophisticated weapons were sighted coming to attack some communities, block the road and kidnap innocent commuters and and proceed to their enclave at Mutu Forest under Tsafe LGA. On receiving the distress, the Police Operatives swung into action and mobilized to the bandits location where a serious gun battle was ensued.
“The Police operatives successfully dislodged the hoodlums, and as result, two (2) bandits were fatally injured while others escaped with a possible gun shot wounds.
“Exhibits recovered includes, Twenty two (22) Rounds of live ammunition, one (1) Operational Motorcycle and Two (2) Tecno Handset belonging to the bandits were recovered from the scene.
“The Command appreciated the People of Zamfara State for their unalloyed Collaboration and synergy with the Police and other security agencies, and urged them to sustain the tempo,” SP Shehu however stated.
