A protest has been staged by various communities in Tsafe local government area of Zamfara State protesting for more than five hours with a view to draw government attention to take more decisive action against the persistent banditry activities in the state.
The protest took place in Tsafe town of Tsafe local government area of the state with the protesters blocking the major highway that links Kano, Katsina and Kaduna state to Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi States.
Many commuters and passengers were stranded until after 5pm when the protesters started dispersing out of hunger and tiredness.
Many stranded passengers and commuters continue their journey with fear of being attacked by bandits as dusk was enveloping noon.

One of the stranded passengers said “Three of us had to pay the sum of N1,500 each to Keke Napep rider who conveyed us to Gusau, which ordinarily could not more N400”.
One of the protesters in an interview revealed that “ bandits have been terrorizing almost all the communities in Tsafe local government with nobody to protect them.”
PPRO to Zamfara State Police Command SP Shehu Muhammad confirmed the development and assured people of the area that the command is making effort toward enhancing and improving security.
