Bauchi State Police Command has debunked reports making the rounds that several people were killed in a boundary clash between Bauchi and Gombe Communities.
Recall that a member of the State House of Assembly, representing Ganjuwa East Constituency, Gaza Abubakar Wunti had announced at a plenary of the House yesterday that people from the Buri- Buri village in Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State attacked a village called Bara in Gungura ward of Ganjuwa LGA in Bauchi State claiming that, “the attackers destroyed the people’s farms and properties worth millions of naira, which also resulted in the loss of innocent lives.”
But the Spokesman of the command, Mohammad Ahmed Wakil in an interview with journalists on Thursday at the force headquarters in Bauchi, the state capital said though there was a clash but no life was lost as widely reported.

According to him, ” It was alleged that some residents in the Gombe community allegedly invaded river farms of Bauchi communities in Ganjuwa Local Government areas.”
“Though the attackers started shooting sporadically in the air; they destroyed the farms and left; but they didn’t kill anybody from the report received by the command.”
He added that after the attackers left, the District head informed the Police which visited the area and restored law and order.
“After the incident, the State commissioners of Police of the affected states summoned a meeting between them where they held a fruitful discussion on how to ensure sustainable peace in the area,” he explained.
He said as part of the resolution a formal complaint was lodged before the National Boundary Commission adding that the Governors of Bauchi and Gombe State would meet while council chairmen of the affected communities will also meet, including traditional and community leaders from the areas to discuss the way forward to ensure sustainable peace among the communities.
