Former Interim Head of the Nigerian Government, Ernest Shonekan, has been confirmed dead at the age of 85 in Lagos.
Crime and Court News gathered that Shonekan, who succeeded the military
junta of General Ibrahim Babangida during the turbulent period, died in the early hours on Tuesday, January 11, 2021.
He was said to have died in a hospital (name with held) in Lekki, Lagos.
The cause of death could not be ascertained as of press time but it was learnt that Shonekan, a native of Ogun State, had been treating an undisclosed illness before his death.
He was the interim head of the Nigerian Government between August 26 and November 17, 1993 before he was subsequently, kicked out in a bloodless coup led by late General Sani Abacha.
